Finally we got the Continental cancellation sorted out. But we had to do it in person (Grumpy Santa and his director did the honors); I never could get through on Continental’s 800-number (busy, busy, busy). Our problem: Continental canceled its Newark to Charleston flight last night, then canceled its Boston to Newark flight this morning. As you can see from Grumpy Santa’s itinerary, that really messed us up… |
Here’s what we did, and how we worked it: a Continental agent in Boston was kind enough to help reroute Santa & Co onto US Airways’ Boston to LaGuardia flight, then from LaGuardia to Charleston. And they were able to do this quickly, because I sent them the back-up plane schedules via their Blackberry!
Here’s FareCompare’s handy link to all flight schedules; always a good idea to print out back-up info on flights to and from your destinations in case of cancellations.
Anyway, after touching down in South Carolina, our heroes then fly back to LaGuardia, as previously scheduled.
And tomorrow, we’ll fly them out of Newark instead of LaGuardia or JFK, so we don’t miss adding New Jersey (we still intend to fly Santa to ALL 48-continental states). And keep you entertained with video of Santa’s adventures.
Whew. That’s done. But what will tomorrow bring — or even later today?
