He’s on his way! FareCompare’s Grumpy Santa gets on the very first flight of his marathon trip, and meets his public.
One member of the public has some advice: gain weight. He thinks Santa is in danger of losing his pants!
Better see for yourself; just click “more”.

Grumpy Santa is driven to the airport; it seems so easy at this point, doesn’t it Santa? Then, reality sets in…
Grumpy Santa goes through security. Not too bad. But he has to take his suit off!
Not too worry; Grumpy Santa is completely clothed throughout his adventure. See for yourself, by clicking “more”.

Silly Elf. He was so excited to get on the motorcycle in Las Vegas, that he left his bag behind. Unattended. Just sitting there on the sidewalk at the airport.
But believe it or not, he actually got a phone call from the folks at Lost & Found. They kept it safe for him.
Meanwhile, Elf blamed Santa for all this. Hey, Elf—take a little responsibility, dude. Or review the video.

Grumpy Santa and Elf have patched things up. Watch them laugh together as they arrive in Las Vegas.
Notice them pass many slot machines. But they don’t even glance at them. What, did those costumes come without pockets for coins?
Well, take a look at the video (click “more”); maybe they’re up to something.

Watch our wee friend, the FareCompare elf, gives Grumpy Santa a hand. But Santa isn’t all that thrilled with Elf.
And that because once again, Elf is going to steal the spotlight. And he’s also stealing some “comfort” from Santa.
Take a look at the video; just click “more”.

Here I am, leaving the airport, and heading for the pool (notice how I keep my Santa suit on, even there).
Then, Santa meets the Harley. Lookin’ good! But then, the bummer: when I made a purchase, notice how I was told, “Santa, I need a picture ID!”
Ouch! Thought most people would recognize me by now…
Anyway, click “more” to see the video.

Ah JFK Airport. Most of us have experienced it a time or three, enough to know that this is one airport that won’t put you in the Holiday Spirit.
After 7-days and 25-states and 30-flights, it reduced Grumpy Santa to chatting with a resident airport bird that was hanging out under his seat.
Santa was a little worried about this bird, but they nevertheless discussed a variety of topics related to Santa’s trip, and his “favorite” airport …

Yes, it’s true. They shut down the airport in Milwaukee, and Grumpy Santa is temporarily out of action.
But at least he’s in Wisconsin. Perhaps he’ll enjoy a nice cheese platter. Perhaps he’ll savor the subtle bouquet of a glass of Old Milwaukee.
“Perhaps I’ll go to bed early-at least, for once on this trip!” snarled Grumpy Santa. |

Woo-Hoo! Kansas City marks my fifth frisking. To be honest, I went many, many flights without getting frisked at all, but now, it’s been 2-airports in a row. And since I look scarier everyday, I imagine the pace of the friskings will pick up.
OK, so a pale, somewhat crazed and wild-eyed guy wearing a Santa suit and lugging a bag of electronic equipment is probably a pretty good candidate for extra screening. But the 87-year old woman with 17 great-grandchildren I sat next to on the flight from New Orleans?
She was frisked too, but I suppose that’s what makes the security checks random.
But you want to know my BIGGEST beef?

“The plane landed? Are you serious? The plane flipping landed? Arghhh. Here’s the story:
We knew when we would be racing the weather when we woke up on Day 6—I think that was Wednesday or Thursday—the days of the week mean nothing to me now (Editor’s note: it was Thurs). It was cold, and the weather channel was all about ice and snow.
Okay, we made it to JFK, then Logan, and then the snow came.
Snow like I haven’t seen in many, many years. Meanwhile, we had flights canceled on us. So be it. All we knew was, we had to get to NYC; we had video shoots planned and we had a FedEX shipment with clothes and coats coming! Would we get there??!!

Here’s the latest: Grumpy Santa is stuck in blizzardy Boston, but he needs to get to New York City (we hope to show our hero frolicking in Times Square).
UPDATE FROM GRUMPY SANTA: “Watch out for the video of the snowstorm. It should be up today or tomorrow. Also, pay attention and try to see if you catch the moment when our fearless director gets hit by an errant snowball.”
Anyway, he’s got his orders: Onward to Amtrak! Unfortunately, all the “good” trains (the express ones) are full so Santa’s stuck with a local. It’ll take him more than 4-hours to get to Penn Station. Meantime, some bad news…

Day 5 was a breeze. We only had 3-flights and not one of them was over an hour. The last one was only 20-minutes long, the shortest flight yet (JFK to Hartford).
Earlier, spent some time at the airport in Burlington, VT. Lovely. Only wish I had a chance to actually see how pretty the state was.
Meanwhile, we were delayed leaving Burlington on our way to JFK, and I could tell the slew of NY hipsters on the plane were afraid they were going to be late for their irony party in DUMBO or their appointment to artfully mess up their hair.
Ready? I’m about to tell you what makes Santa SICK!!!

Well, as Grumpy Santa would say, when you’re zooming from airport to airport on a marathon quest to hit 48-states in just 12-days, you pick up your travel tips where you can find them.
And he found a very nice young woman who told him THE place to see in Maine (no, Mrs. Claus, they were just chatting).
Click “more” to hear for yourself. Santa’s director is a “Blue Grass” fan — And look here, for all our other great video.
